From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and every Californian who voted for me yesterday.
Late last night, we got the great news that more California voters stood with our campaign than any other -- we won the primary. I am excited to be advancing to the November general election as the Democratic candidate for Secretary of State!
This is a tremendous honor, but now isn't the time to relax -- we're only halfway there. The stakes are too high and our opponents are going to come after us with everything they've got.
That's why I need you to help us kick off our general election campaign today with a strong grassroots boost.
Across the country, voting rights are under attack. But California has stood strong against these assaults on democracy.
And now voters in California have a clear choice to make in November.
Do we want to encourage and engage voters to participate in our democracy and strengthen the right to vote?
Or do we want to hand over the elections to the party that has rolled back voting rights all over America?
A broad coalition of supporters from around the state -- from firefighters, police officers, and nurses to elected leaders like Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Kamala Harris, and Gavin Newsom -- stand with me because they know how important it is to engage the ten million Californians who are not currently voting. They know we need all citizens to vote so we can have our voices heard.
As your next Secretary of State, I will also work to restore trust in government with new campaign finance reforms and make it easier for entrepreneurs to start businesses and create jobs here in California.
I'm so excited about what's possible if we're successful in November. But to get there, we have to start off the general election on a strong note.
Thank you for helping push our campaign to victory in yesterday's primary, and thank you for standing with me through November!
